Virtual Reality Activities for Cognitive Rehabilitation
Pre- Loaded Headsets
Virtual reality (VR) is revolutionising cognitive rehabilitation therapies, creating innovative pathways for individuals to reconnect with their past and enhance their quality of life. By immersing users in virtual environments, Global VAM facilitates engaging and personalised therapy sessions tailored to individual histories and preferences.
"For instance, a simple click can transport someone back to the coastal footpaths of Ireland or their childhood hometown, allowing them to relive cherished memories while participating in stimulating activities" (Catania, 2024). This immersive experience not only fosters emotional connections but also provides therapeutic benefits that traditional rehabilitation methods often lack.

The implementation of VR aligns seamlessly with the principles outlined in Tom Kitwood's "Dementia Reconsidered," which emphasises personhood by recognising individuals beyond their medical conditions (Kitwood, 1997). This person-centered approach is further supported by the Biopsychosocial Model of Care , acknowledging the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors in care. By integrating this model into VR therapy, we can create individualised plans that reflect personal narratives and family stories ensuring that therapy remains relevant and meaningful to the person.

The real-time feedback provided by Global VAM technology enhances our users engagement and motivation during rehabilitation processes. People diagnosed with Dementia are more likely to adhere to treatment plans when they find them enjoyable and tailored to their needs. As we stand on the brink of technological advancement in healthcare, embracing virtual reality as a tool for cognitive rehabilitation offers an unprecedented opportunity to improve the person's outcomes while honoring their individuality.
By fostering a holistic perspective that respects the individual’s life story and personal identity, VR therapy not only aligns with contemporary healthcare paradigms but also paves the way for more compassionate and effective rehabilitation practices. The adaptability of VR experiences allows for seamless integration with personal histories, enabling a truly bespoke therapeutic journey that resonates on an emotional and cognitive level.

Our vision is to interact with the person as a whole but also enable the therapeutic interventions approached to remain grounded. This allows for the person's lived experiences to be at the epicentre of the programme tailored to suit their needs.
Global VAM technology is for everyone, we aim to be an inclusive company that caters to the needs of each individual regardless of cognitive impairment. Dementia is just one of many avenues we hope to walk and educate ourselves on. We want to actively listen to our customers and engage in enabling and enhancing a better quality of life right from the comfort of their own home.
